Supper clubs appear to be enjoying a great deal of success in Bristol. We’ve already seen the likes of The Secret Service Supper Club and Cloak and Dinner receive rave reviews, and Sam Leach of Mark’s Bread will be holding his second Southville Supper Club next Wednesday. And this weekend will see another venture being launched by two well-known Bristol foodies…
Enter Dan from the Essex Eating blog, and Elly of The Pear Cafe fame. After much deliberation and discussion, the pair decided on this Saturday, October 16th as the inaugural night, and places are now available for booking.
Diners will be treated to a British-themed menu, using local and seasonal produce as far as possible. For only £20 per head you’ll be served…
Arrival drinks and nibbles
Herbert’s Bakery bread and West Country butter
Roast baby squash with beet leaf and cobnut pesto, leaves and toasted seeds.
Beef cheeks braised in Bristol Milk Stout with horseradish and herb dumplings, mash and veg OR Braised Puy lentils and roast celeriac with horseradish and herb dumplings, mash and veg
St Clements posset with stem ginger shortbread
Rarebit
Guests will need to arrive at 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start, and drink is on a BYO basis.
To book, simply email Elly and Dan at montpelierbsmt@gmail.com – and if you can’t make it this time around but are still interested, let them know on the same email address and you’ll be on the list for future suppers.

Can a non-cook go to supper club, or is it expected that to visit you must also host? I’m interested but too embarassed of my negligible culinary skills to host my own ‘club’. Should you have excellent dinner conversation skills?

Anyone who’s interested is welcome to go! It’s not about expecting a return invite: they’re running it because it’s something they’ve wanted to do for a while. Should be pretty informal so no need to worry about conversation topics etc 🙂
