Another search for a cheap post-work bite to eat on Whiteladies Road led a friend and I to another venue that I hadn’t yet eaten at: Picture House East. It was the board outside that swayed us, advertising two courses for £10 (or three for £13.50)…rude not to, really… Read the rest of this entry »

Number 81 Whiteladies Road has, like many venues in Bristol, seen a number of name and ownership changes over the years. Its most recent incarnation was as Singaporean restaurant Orchid, which was still trading just a few weeks before we noticed the sign in the window saying that Street Food @ Bangkok would be opening on Monday, August 1st. A friend and I decided to check it out on the opening night… Read the rest of this entry »

It’s always great to see new independents opening up in Bristol, and last week saw the opening of an exciting new business in Clifton in the form of butcher Ruby & White. The former Threshers shop at 48 Whiteladies Road has now been taken over by neighbouring The Cowshed’s Adam Denton, offering local shoppers a butcher, wine shop and delicatessen, all in one place. I popped in there on Sunday to take a look… Read the rest of this entry »

The sign outside now proudly proclaims that the Black Boy Inn on Whiteladies Road is now open for business, as of Friday, July 8th. I popped in to have a chat to the new owners ahead of their opening on July 8th… Read the rest of this entry »

So…after weeks of teasing, the kitchen at Brace & Browns Bar & Kitchen at 43 Whiteladies Road is finally open! The small regular menu, well-priced specials list and apparently great Sunday roasts are incentive enough to head over there…but if you’re planning a visit, I’d definitely recommend that you try the tapas menu… Read the rest of this entry »
