Secret Service Supper Club – High Tea/Brunch, May 8th-9th!

Posted on: April 30, 2010

After the success of her evening supper clubs, Cordon Bleu-trained local chef Louise Barnard has branched out…both in terms of location and occasion.

The Secret Service Supper Club was launched in June 2009, when Louise began hosting meals for 20-24 people in the fantastic north Bristol house that she was house-sitting. We attended in March, being treated to an amazing meal, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You can read our review of the evening here đŸ™‚

Details have now been made available for the next installments of the SSSC’s good work, with two choices available: a Decadent High Tea, or a Lazy Weekend Brunch. Both will be held on May the 8th and 9th, this time in central Bath.

The brunch will run from 10.30-12.30am, with the location revealed 24 hours beforehand to those who have purchased tickets. £12.50 per person will entitle you to a champagne cocktail on arrival, followed by as much breakfast as you can manage! Continuing her committment to locally sourced, seasonal food, Louise has put together a menu that includes:

– Parma ham, rocket and fig compote on ciabatta

– Bagels with smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers

– Savoury breakfast muffins of feta, roasted peppers and fresh basil

– Banana and blueberry/lemon and poppyseed muffins

– Organic yoghurt and drizzly English honey

– Homemade maple and pecan granola

– Local cheeses and cured meats, artisan breads, fruit conserves & compotes

If this is too early for your liking, the SSSC are also running a high tea in the afternoons of the same weekend. The high tea was originally the only event planned for the weekend, but due to its popularity, the brunch was also organised.

The high tea is also in Bath, at a similarly secret venue (the same one…?) It will be running from 3.30pm to around 6pm, and tickets are £18.50 each for canapes, afternoon tea and a cocktail on arrival. The menu includes…

Canapes:

– Asparagus, Sundried Tomatoes and Parma Ham

– Goats’ Cheese, Quince Jelly and a Chive Crumb

– Smoked Salmon, Beetroot Rosti, Cucumber and Dill

– Spiced Crab and Rocket on Brioche

Sandwiches:

– Cucumber, Mint & Cream Cheese

– Rare Roast Beef, Horseradish & Watercress

– Smoked Trout Mousse with Capers & Parsley

Tartlets:

– Roasted Peppers, Basil & Parmesan

– Wild Mushroom, Asparagus & Truffle Oil

– Fresh Strawberries

– Chocolate Dipped Madelines

– Plain, Fruit & Lavender Scones

– Clotted Cream, Jams & Compotes

– Raspberry, Orange & Almond Victoria Sponge Cake

– Gooseberry & Elderflower Victoria Sponge Cake
