Ashton Court Farmers’ Market, May 15th – final details!

Posted on: May 11, 2011

This Sunday you’ll notice something different at Ashton Court Estate. Spot the colourful bunting adorning the stables courtyard and you’ll discover a new farmers’ market selling locally sourced food and crafts. A new venture between Sophie Bowden of Cornish food business Mullion Cove and Bristol City Council, this exciting new market will give locals and tourists another reason to visit this historic estate on a Sunday…

Sophie Bowden said, ‘I’m very excited to be involved in this project; we’ve received great support from locals and businesses expressing interest in what we’re doing. The estate seems such an ideal platform for a farmers’ market not only because of its beautiful surroundings but it’s centrally located, offers free parking and will provide visitors with the added bonus of being able to buy exceptional local food whilst already out for the day with the family.’

The market launches on Sunday 15 May from 10.30am – 2.30pm in the stables yard of the mansion house and will take place on the third Sunday of every month.

Local food producers taking part include The Story, Gorgeous Georges, Whitelake Cheese, the Proper Bread Company, the Upton Chilli Company, Snowdrop Cottage, the Mall Deli and Sue Carnaby cakes. Mullion Cove will of course be taking part and will be serving up celebratory cream teas. Beautiful pottery and local crafts will be provided by Liz Isaacs, Forest of Avon Wood products and Bristol artist collaboration ‘I love Crafty’.
